Wine Tasting at Jones Family Farm

As fall arrives and the harvests begin all over CT, join us in sampling some of the local wines that this state is known for. In the countryside of Shelton, Jones Family Farms is picturesque with its 19th century dairy barn, homestead farmhouse, and 400 acre of working farm land that includes over five acres of grapes that are in utilized in production for the farm's winery.

Jones Winery offers a tasting room that gives guests a relaxing, educationally informative, and delicious wine tasting opportunity. The staff is pleased to provide a unique learning experience for winery guests, educating them on how to sample, serve, and pair the wines for optimum enjoyment.

The tasting cost is $6.50/per person plus tax and each guest will sample 6 wines and get to keep the Jones Winery logo wine glass. Although they do not permit outside food and drink or picnicking, crackers are provided during the tasting the cleanse the pallet. Local cheeses are available also for purchase. If you find a favorite wine, they are sold both by the bottle and by the glass.

As an added bonus, the Farm's Pumpkin season should also be underway (depending on growing conditions). Anyone interested in picking their own pumpkin will certainly have the opportunity.

I figured we would just meet near the front entrance. Be aware that they do have several properties, we are meeting at the vineyard.

This was a good Meetup. We hit a good day as there were other CT Magazine "Best of" winners exhibiting. The wine tasting experience itself was pleasant - structured but not rushed. Plenty of time to chat in between the six differnt wines. Our group[ got a 'special' tour from the vine tender which was very informative. Thanks for putting this together, MAry, and for posting some pix.

The wine cellar had a great history with the wood from the farm being used to build the bar.
